If all goes well, my brother and I will be taking our first official road trip together to San Francisco the weekend of Nov 6th. The ultimate purpose for going though, would be for this guy:
I met other photographers while being out there, made new friends, yea yea. So initially, I went at it strong and was always out and about, shooting anything and everything. Til I was dry on film and too broke to buy photo supplies. It was a great time, meeting new people, experimenting with photo tricks and capturing music, people, life.
But then the trials and tribulations of being a busy bee college kid, working multiple jobs, on my own in the big bad world... had an effect on my mood and financial situation. I was starting to take on too much. My school schedule was all over the place. I had to work. A lot. And pay for stuff. A lot. I would burn both ends of the stick a lot (at least, I was told this all the time, in that parent voice) Anyway, I would get moody and anti-social, uninvolved and uninspired. But, my big brother was always there for me to yank me back up when I was down.
So, to make a long story longer, my brother bought me this really cool Glen Friedman book for one of my birthdays. He wrote a nice little inscription on the inside flap, basically saying "I believe in you, you are passionate and great, get your ass out there little sister" So I did (eventually converted to digital), had loads of fun, learned A LOT, met many interesting folks... forward to present time, I am very happy with my photo experiences that have led me up to where I am now.
So, thought I'd share :)Also, aside from the photo exhibit, I really want to see THIS! (Camera Obscura)
If all goes well, I will be reporting back soon. Til then, it's Halloween time! Have fun everyone.
